Best of TED: How food shapes our cities

Every day, for a city the size of London, enough food needs to be delivered, cooked and fed to millions of people. The sheer scale of this has meant that cities are in fact shaped by food.

In this TED Talk,  Carolyn Steel, a food urbanist, takes us on a journey of how our meals affect not just the cities we live in, but the rainforest too, which is cleared to make way for arable land.

Best of TED: A park underneath the hustle and bustle of New York City

In our latest featured TED Talk, Dan Barasch discussed his, and his business partner James Ramsey, crazy plan to create a park filled with greenery, right underneath New York City.

Lowline, will be an underground green space the size of a football field. Using technology that harvests sunlight above-ground and directs it down below, it is a park that can thrive, even in winter.
